About the Role

Wealden District Council is a forward-thinking authority seeking a responsible, reliable, and proactive individual to join our caretaking team. You will play a vital role in keeping our Council Offices in Hailsham safe, smart, and running smoothly.

Responsibilities

Your main duties will include:

  • Opening the building and monitoring essential services.
  • Reporting faults and maintenance issues.
  • Assisting with deliveries to the offices.
  • Monitoring and setting up the Civic Community Hall.
  • Playing an active part in emergency services, health and safety, and security procedures.
  • Working early mornings and/or late evenings to cover rotas over a 6-day period (Monday–Saturday).
  • Being contactable via telephone to provide cover.

Requirements

  • Essential: Full clean driving licence.
  • Previous experience in caretaking, security, or similar work.
  • Physical fitness to undertake the duties of the role.
  • Ability to work flexible hours (early mornings/late evenings) across a 6-day rota.
