Job Description

Summary of Responsibilities: Reporting to the Director of Engineering, responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Consistently offer professional, engaging and proactive guest service while supporting fellow colleagues.
  • Demonstrate Accor core values in all interactions.
  • Establish and maintain quantitative standards of performance and utilize performance management principles to maximize productivity.
  • Assist guests regarding property facilities in an informative and helpful way.
  • Respond promptly to service requests from all facility departments and outlets.
  • Ensure all physical operations including Propane Gas Equipment, Plumbing, Water Treatment and Supply, Laundry Systems and Utilities are maintained to standard.
  • Ensure routine preventative maintenance of systems and equipment are maintained, documented and resolved promptly according to equipment standard requirements.
  • Assist with monitoring and managing a cost-effective energy management programme and monitor the hotel’s Energy Management Systems (EMS).
  • Conduct regular inspections of facility and surrounding areas and perform maintenance and service as required.
  • Observe and test the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Dismantle and reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.
  • Assist with developing and monitoring an effective inventory control process for designated supplies.
  • Ensure that collaborative working relationships are established and maintained with relevant vendors.
  • Assist with hotel compliance to all Government regulations pertaining to building code requirements, health, fire and life safety programmes.
  • Ensure prompt and/or immediate response to maintenance requests from our guests, colleagues and management of the Hotel.
  • Comply with OSHA regulations, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and safety precautions.
  • Actively participate in the hotel’s energy management, emergency preparedness, occupational health & safety and environmental programmes.
  • Strict adherence to all Health & Safety training, guidelines and work practices (previous, during and following an epidemic) established by Accor, local government, and international bodies including the WHO and CDC.
  • Perform any other duties, tasks, training and assignments within your department as required.

Qualifications

  • Certification: A 1st Class Power Engineering is preferred; in the absence of certification, the candidate must have the ability to obtain certification within a timeframe set by the hotel.
  • Technical Skills: Demonstrated strong mechanical aptitude is required; a Degree/diploma in Engineering, Building Management, Mechanics or appliance trade certification is strongly preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years working experience in a similar position within a luxury hotel is required.
  • Knowledge: Proven record of sound technical judgment and working knowledge of Building Systems and Testing Equipment.
  • Safety: Provide Health & Safety certification and adhere to policies and procedures, including emergency procedures, hurricane preparedness, loss prevention protocols, WHMIS, MSDS, etc.
  • Compliance: Demonstrated knowledge of all regulations such as building codes, fire and health department requirements.
  • Blueprints: Ability to read, understand and interpret Engineering and Building Blueprints.
  • Leadership: Proven leadership and team development skills.
  • Soft Skills: Strong organizational, project management, analytical and problem-solving skills are an asset.
  • Communication: Must be computer literate and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills; must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Continuous Improvement: Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and awareness of cutting-edge facilities and energy management technologies.
  • Work Ethic: Strong work ethic, highly responsible, reliable with the ability to be flexible and work extended hours including evenings, public holidays and weekends as required.

Additional Information

Physical Aspects of Position:

  • Walking, standing, bending, pushing and pulling anywhere from 2 – 6 hours a day.
  • Requires constant repetitive motion.
  • Environmental stress is high: work in extreme weather conditions, high noise level and utilize hazardous machinery.
