About the Role

We are seeking a Payroll Specialist for an on-site, temp-to-perm role in Miami Gardens, FL. This position supports a private Catholic university committed to academic excellence, ethical leadership, and community impact. This is a highly interactive role supporting payroll operations for a large employee population in a fast-paced campus environment. Must be authorized to work in the US.

Requirements

A good fit for this role will have the following:

2–3 years of payroll processing experience in a high‑volume environment
Experience handling payroll for 1,000+ employees, ensuring accuracy and timely compensation
Hands‑on Paycom experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Post‑secondary diploma

Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing / Performance Objectives:

Daily, hands‑on interaction with HR, faculty, students, and internal stakeholders regarding payroll inquiries
Maintain and update the payroll system
Prepare and execute pay orders through an electronic payroll platform
Manage and review time and attendance
Reconcile timesheets and validate hours worked
Calculate hourly rates, wages, overtime, deductions, bonuses, etc., using payroll software
Ensure proper time‑management setup, monitor/report leaves and shifts
Support process improvements, system updates, and technology enhancements to optimize payroll delivery
Provide payroll expertise related to tax, compliance, best practices, and legislation

Compensation

Pay rate: $25.00 – $30.00
