**Part-Time Discord Community Manager**
Writer's Startup is hiring a part-time Discord community manager. Remote, ongoing, around 5 to 10 hours per week.
**Priority given to candidates with a writing background.** Our community is built around writers, and someone who actually understands that world will land better than someone who doesn't.
**What you'd do**
\- Activate our Discord community day to day
\- Ask questions, start conversations, post prompts that get people talking
\- Welcome new members and help them find their place in the server
\- Keep the energy alive when things go quiet
\- Flag anything that needs founder attention
This is a conversation-starting role, not a moderation-heavy one. The goal is to make the community feel alive and warm, not policed.
**Pay**
Hourly or flat weekly rate, based on experience. Higher rates for candidates with proven community-building track records.
**What we're looking for**
\- Someone who genuinely enjoys talking to writers and creative people
\- Strong instincts for what makes a conversation worth joining
\- Comfort moving between channels, threads, and DMs
\- Reliable presence (showing up regularly matters more than long sessions)
\- A writing background (fiction, screenwriting, copywriting, journalism, any kind)
**Bonus**
\- Experience growing a Discord from a small base
\- Familiarity with bots, roles, and Discord's community tools
\- Comfort hosting small events (AMAs, writing sprints, casual hangouts)
