Location: Remote (Cairo-based)
Availability: ~30 hours/week (Flexible across US, EU, and Gulf time zones)

About Me

I am a backend and data engineer based in Cairo. Since early 2024, I have been building and running the data systems behind a health-tech app. I am experienced in owning projects from the first line of code through to production maintenance.

What I Can Do For You

  • Data Engineering: Build ETL and data pipelines in Python (Pandas, SQLAlchemy, PostgreSQL, AWS). I specialize in scheduled ingestion, cleaning, validation, and deduplication. I also work with dbt, Airflow, BigQuery, Kafka, Spark, and Docker.
  • Backend Development: Write backend APIs with FastAPI or Flask, including endpoints, authentication, rate limiting, validation, logging, and deployment.
  • Business Intelligence: Build Power BI dashboards and reports (DAX, Row-Level Security, DirectQuery) along with the necessary SQL and data modeling.
  • Automation: Automate tedious tasks such as scraping, email/spreadsheet ingestion, data cleaning, and custom scripting.
  • AI Integration: Wire up LLM features using OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, and Ollama.
  • Localization & QA: Arabic and English localization and QA, with experience working for international brands including Sanrio and Motul.

Selected Projects & Experience

  • Automated AWS Pipeline: Built a system that pulls 100,000+ records daily into PostgreSQL (40 million+ records total), replacing a manual process.
  • Client Onboarding System: Developed an end-to-end provisioning system for corporate clients with validation and safe rollback, handling 10+ clients.
  • SDK Integration: Integrated Spike and Terra SDKs to unify biometric data from Xiaomi, Huawei, and InBody devices into a single PostgreSQL model.
  • Algorithm Design: Designed a production health-scoring algorithm in collaboration with medical advisors to power progress tracking and user engagement.
  • BI Reporting: Created Power BI dashboards used by 30+ staff members across medical, ops, and management, reducing weekly reporting time by ~75%.
  • API Services: Developed a FastAPI scoring service featuring API key authentication, request validation, and rate limiting.

  • Rate: $15/hr (Fixed-price project quotes are also available).
