Job Title: [For Hire] Stuck at 0 Clients: How do you actually land your first web dev & SEO gig?
Source: reddit-r-forhire
Background
I am feeling stuck and overwhelmed. Over the last few months, I have built 2–3 full sites for relatives' businesses, handling everything from web development to on-page, off-page, and technical SEO. The sites are live, ranking higher, and bringing in actual business. I know I have the skills to deliver real value.
However, moving from doing free work for family to landing paying clients feels like a wall. I don't know how to reach people who need web dev and SEO without sounding like spam or getting lost in crowded job boards.
Seeking Guidance
For anyone who has been in this position, I am looking for advice on the following:
- How did you get past the fear and land your very first paying client?
- What outreach methods worked best when starting with zero industry network?
I am ready to put in the work, but I could really use guidance from those who have walked this path. Thanks for reading.
