Bug Squisher Wanted: You’re an expert at making sure websites, storefronts, and backend systems work smoothly before they go live. But you don’t just catch bugs. You build the systems that catch bugs before anyone else ever sees them. You can spot flaky tests from a mile away. Your test architecture is clean, scalable, and easy for other developers to follow. And when it comes to troubleshooting, you’re relentless — in the best possible way.
AlgaeCal is on the lookout for a Lead QA Developer to bring their skills to our lively QA team and help transform lives, one stable release at a time.
Small print: We’re an eCommerce company. So, we want you to have eCommerce experience. Lots of it. You’ll be helping us improve the quality, stability, and reliability of our React-based storefront and internal middleware. If automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and digital marketing technology don’t light at least a small fire in your belly, you probably shouldn’t read any further.

Requirements
- 5+ years of QA development experience, with real examples of automated testing strategies you’ve built, maintained, improved, or scaled.
- 2+ years of leadership, mentorship, or coaching experience. You know how to guide other QA developers, review their work, and raise the technical standard of the team.
- Strong command of JavaScript and TypeScript. You are comfortable writing, reviewing, and improving automated tests in a modern JS/TS environment.
- Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks like Cypress, Playwright, or similar tools.
- Architectural expertise: Ability to scale automated testing frameworks across frontend storefronts (Shopify Hydrogen) and backend middleware.
- CI/CD integration: Experience integrating automated tests into cloud-based pipelines to provide fast, reliable feedback.
- Quality metrics: A sharp eye for automation coverage, pipeline stability, test execution runtimes, flaky test reduction, and production defect leakage.
- Technical curiosity: Comfort with API contract testing, performance profiling, load testing, and browser developer tool profiling. Experience with Python, PHP, Figma, Storybook, or Jest is a plus.
