About the Project

I am a solo developer working on my first playable demo and I am looking for a level designer to help me build two small 3D biomes. The game is a blend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and a village builder.

The core gameplay loop involves exploring the world, freeing villagers from enemy camps, and bringing them back to your village. Villagers then unlock new buildings, blueprints, weapons, abilities, and other upgrades. These upgrades are used to defeat the biome boss, open a portal, and progress to the next area.

Responsibilities

For this demo, I am looking for assistance with the following:

  • Designing 2 small biomes/levels
  • Creating one boss area per biome
  • Placing enemy camps and exploration areas
  • Designing routes for gathering resources
  • Allocating space for simple objectives and progression
  • Ensuring clear and enjoyable gameplay flow
  • Implementing basic environmental storytelling and asset placement

Requirements

  • Engine: Experience with Godot is required.
  • Assets: I already have assets available; you will not be required to create custom models.
  • Creative Input: I am looking for someone who enjoys providing creative input rather than just following a fixed layout, as I am new to level design and game development.
  • Scope: The work does not need to be production-ready; the focus is on testing the gameplay loop.

Compensation & Terms

  • Budget: Up to ~€400.
  • Flexibility: We can start with one biome or set different milestones to see how the collaboration goes.
  • Timeline: There is no strict deadline or time pressure.
