About the Role
This position provides coverage in short-term, surge, and on-demand situations resulting from military needs, such as post-deployment events or covering assignments for absent counselors. Primary responsibilities include the full breadth of personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families at military installations.
You will work closely with the installation and military branch Points of Contact (POC) to ensure the program is provided within scope and meets the needs of the installation.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families.
- Assist service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.
- Develop and provide informational financial materials to service members and families.
- Coordinate, publicize, and provide a wide variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops (e.g., arrival at first duty station, pre- and post-deployment, and personal/career events).
- Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars.
- Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication (web-based, secure online chat, or video-based communications) as authorized by the OSD FINRED Program office.
- Manage "duty to warn" situations according to Department of Defense (DoD) protocol.
- Communicate with leadership and participate in regular individual and group supervision, sharing information regarding trends and issues on assigned installations.
- Participate in regular in-services/training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree required.
- Alternative: Associate degree plus 4 years of experience.
- Alternative: High school diploma plus 6 years of experience.
- Experience: 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
- Certifications: Must hold one of the following:
- Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC)
- Certified Financial Planner (CFP)
- Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC)
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen and speak fluent English.
- Language: If required by the contract, must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Clearance: Must be able to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
- Compliance: Must be able to pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
- License: Valid Driver's License.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $58,440 – $93,500
- Note: This reflects the anticipated base salary range based on current national data. Actual pay will be adjusted based on location, skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors.
- Incentives: This position may be eligible for short-term incentives.
