[HIRING] UI/UX Designer for Weather Tech Startup (ActuallyWeather.com)

Source: reddit-r-forhire

About the Role

We're redesigning ActuallyWeather, a weather forecast verification platform. Think Consumer Reports for weather models. We score weather models against real observations and tell sailors, kiters, and enterprise clients which forecast to actually trust.

What We Need

We are looking for a UI/UX Designer to help us with the following:

  • Custom data visualizations (not generic weather icons. Think aperture/iris graphics, signed delta bars, regime classification badges)
  • Mobile-first tactical dashboard ("Go / No-Go" for kiters and offshore sailors)
  • B2B audit dashboard for enterprise clients (model providers, utilities)
  • Sitemap + component library in Figma
  • Dark-first design system (high contrast, outdoor readable)

Stack

  • Next.js
  • Tailwind
  • Plotly
  • MapLibre

We are looking for Figma deliverables + design system specs. Some familiarity with data-dense UIs required. Currently a web app, considering a consumer mobile app.

Vibe

Scientific precision meets rugged utility. Authoritative, not friendly.
