About the Role
We sell an after-hours answering service to trades businesses (plumbers, roofers, electricians, HVAC, towing). Before we contact a potential client, we need to verify whether they actually miss calls in the evening.
Your job is to call a provided list of 55 businesses and document the outcome of each call. This is not a sales role; you are conducting research to verify if businesses are reachable after hours.
Responsibilities
- Call businesses: You will be provided a sheet of 55 businesses with phone numbers.
- Document outcomes:
- If someone picks up: Confirm the business name, ask for their evening hours, thank them, and hang up (approx. 30 seconds).
- If nobody picks up: Note the specific outcome (rang out, voicemail, answering machine, or third-party answering service).
- Accuracy: It is critical that you let the phone ring at least six times before marking it as "rang out." Accuracy is more important than speed.
- Transparency: If asked why you are calling, use this script: "We're building a list of which trades answer the phone after hours — it's research, I'm not selling you anything." If they require more information, take their name and we will handle the follow-up.
What You Do Not Do
- No selling or pitching.
- No leaving messages.
- No explaining our product.
Compensation
- Pay Rate: $15 per completed sheet of 55.
- Bonus: $20 per sheet if you submit two sheets together.
- Estimated Earnings: $15–20/hour once you establish a rhythm.
- Payment Terms: Paid weekly via PayPal or Zelle. The first sheet is paid after review; subsequent sheets are paid upon receipt.
Hours and Availability
- Time Requirements: Calls must land between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM in the business's time zone.
- Flexibility: You choose your own nights. You can take as many or as few sheets as you like.
- Time Zone Considerations:
- If you are on the East Coast, this is evening work (6:00 PM – 9:00 PM).
- If you are on the West Coast, this is afternoon work (3:00 PM – 5:00 PM).
Practical Details
- Privacy: Calls are made through a provided number using a free app; your personal phone number is never displayed.
- Verification: Calls are logged on our end and checked against your submitted sheets.
- Requirements: No experience is needed. We require honest, accurate records. If you are unsure of an outcome, please note that rather than guessing.
