About the Role
CivTiq is building enterprise-grade, white-label reporting infrastructure for municipal governments across North America. We are led by a founder with 3x successful exits.
Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Own full technical decision-making processes.
- Architecture: Design and maintain multi-tenant cloud architecture supporting Canadian data residency requirements.
- Compliance: Lead the buildout of our compliance framework, including SOC 2, PIPEDA, MFIPPA, and other security standards relevant to Canadian municipal procurement.
- Team Growth: Manage technical hiring as the team expands.
- Stakeholder Management: Represent the technical platform to government IT evaluators.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure or backend engineering.
- Direct exposure to multi-tenant architecture, data residency, and uptime SLA commitments.
- Proven experience shipping production systems where bugs have legal or compliance consequences.
- Hands-on experience with SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, PIPEDA, or equivalent regulated environments.
- Ability to review and challenge AI-generated code and architectural decisions; must be comfortable using AI tools without blindly trusting them.
- Proficiency in inheriting and working with an existing TypeScript, Node.js, and PostgreSQL codebase.
- Located in Toronto or willing to relocate.
