AI-enhanced for better readability
Portless | AI Engineer
- Location: REMOTE (North America only)
- Type: Full-time
- Compensation: $180K–$230K + equity
- Source: Hacker News
About the Role
This is a founding AI engineer seat. AI adoption at Portless today is basic (decks, spreadsheets, call summaries, and vibe-coded dashboards) with no real end-to-end agentic workflows yet. You will build the AI infrastructure, shipping high-impact agentic workflows yourself and building reusable "Lego blocks" (APIs, MCP tools, docs) so any team can build their own. This is a cross-functional, high-leverage role touching every team, working directly with leadership.
Example first project: An agent for inbound invoice questions that understands the question, pulls the right invoice, and drafts a context-aware reply for a teammate to click-send, turning an hour of work into ~30 seconds.
