About Dotexe
We're Dotexe, a branded merchandise agency in Long Beach. We design and manufacture apparel, headwear, packaging, and promo goods for gaming platforms, entertainment brands, creator labels, and nonprofits. We focus on real production runs—the stuff we design gets made and shipped.
The Role
We are hiring a full-time Product & Merch Designer to work on-site in our Long Beach office.
In this role, you will receive client briefs requesting 4–6 complete concept directions (including garments, crests, woven labels, hang tags, and packaging) followed by three rounds of revisions. You will be responsible for generating these directions, building presentation decks, and preparing production files and tech packs with accurate print specifications.
Requirements
- 3–6 years of experience in apparel, merch, packaging, or brand design.
- A portfolio showcasing work that has actually been manufactured.
- Solid proficiency in Illustrator and Photoshop (specifically vector work ready for screen printers).
- Real production knowledge: screen print vs. embroidery vs. sublimation, Pantone matching, print areas, and MOQs.
- Comfortable using AI image tools as part of your workflow (e.g., Midjourney, Krea, Firefly, ComfyUI).
- Ability to present and defend design directions to clients.
- Must be able to work on-site in Long Beach. (This is not a remote position).
- Note: No degree requirement; your portfolio is what matters most.
Pay and Benefits
- Salary: $85,000–$110,000/yr (depending on experience)
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- 401k with 4% match
- 15 days PTO plus company holidays
- Company-paid AI tool subscriptions
Hiring Process
- Portfolio review
- 30-minute call
- Paid test project (approx. 5 hours, $400)
- On-site conversation
- Offer
Note: The test project is paid because we believe asking designers to work for free is unacceptable.
