Embedded UI / Graphics Engineer at Lopaka

About Lopaka

Lopaka is a browser-based UI editor and C/C++ code generator for embedded displays (OLED, TFT, e-paper). Around 20,000 hardware developers use it to design interfaces for ESP32, STM32, AVR, Arduino, and other platforms.

We're building DevPet, a small animated desktop companion for developers (think Tamagotchi meets build monitor). We're looking for an experienced embedded UI engineer to help design the UI architecture and build a polished animated interface that runs within tight memory and performance constraints.

Responsibilities

You will work on:

  • Embedded UI architecture
  • Character animations and state transitions
  • Sprite, bitmap, and font pipelines
  • Rendering optimization (dirty rectangles, partial redraws, partial refresh)
  • Display and hardware trade-offs
  • Integrating Git activity, build status, and notifications into the UI

Requirements

We are looking for someone with experience in:

  • C/C++
  • Embedded graphics
  • LVGL, U8g2, TFT_eSPI, Adafruit GFX or similar
  • OLED, TFT, or e-paper displays
  • ESP32, STM32, or similar MCUs

Note: Side projects are absolutely welcome—we care more about what you've built than where you've worked.

Contract Details

  • Commitment: ~10–15 hrs/week for approximately 6–8 weeks.
  • Future: Possibility of ongoing collaboration.
