Emergences Labs is a VC-backed startup building NeoHuman, a desktop system that observes how people actually use AI tools during real work and turns those sessions into reliable evaluation evidence. Closest mental models: Screenpipe, Rewind, OpenAdapt — but built for AI competency assessment, not personal recall.

About the Role

You'll own desktop capture (macOS + Windows), trace fusion, the evaluation evidence pipeline, and LLM normalization. This sits at the boundary of OS APIs, multimodal data capture, LLM-based normalization, and assessment.

What You'll Build

  • Cross-platform capture: AX/UIA trees, OCR snapshots, clipboard, keyboard/mouse, file interactions
  • Trace fusion that turns noisy low-level signals into clean session timelines
  • Evidence pipeline (Postgres + Supabase) with explicit confidence and gap tracking
  • LLM normalization that summarizes without hallucinating
  • Privacy/consent/proctoring safety for enterprise customers

Requirements

  • 3+ years production TypeScript + Node.js
  • Built desktop software, ideally Electron + native helpers
  • Strong Postgres (schema design, indexing, data quality)
  • Comfortable with OS APIs, permissions, background processes, cross-platform differences
  • Hands-on LLM API experience (structured output, evaluation)
  • AI-native — Claude Code or Cursor are your daily working medium, not a curiosity
