About the Role

We are seeking a skilled SwiftUI developer to modernize an existing SwiftUI application designed to assist users with vision impairment. The app currently utilizes the Google Cloud Vision API for OCR and text-to-speech functionality. While functional, the app requires a refresh with modern SwiftUI practices, improved accessibility, and a cleaner architecture.

Responsibilities

Refactor and modernize an existing SwiftUI app
Redesign UI/UX using current SwiftUI patterns (macros, async/await, SwiftData, etc.)
Improve accessibility (VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, color contrast, etc.)
Integrate or optimize Google Cloud Vision API for OCR
Improve text-to-speech with AVSpeechSynthesizer or a better pipeline
General performance and code cleanup

Requirements

3+ years of solid SwiftUI experience
Familiar with Pixlab API, Google Cloud Vision API, or similar OCR backends
Comfortable with AVFoundation, async/await, Combine, SwiftData
Writes clean, maintainable code and communicates clearly
Bonus: Experience with apps for vision-impaired users

Compensation

💵 $20 – $45 / hour (based on experience)
💰 Or fixed-price if you prefer to quote for the full project
