Job Title: Apple Watch/iOS UX Designer Who Actually Lifts [Hiring]

Source: reddit-r-forhire

About the Role

I’m an independent founder building an Apple Watch + iPhone fitness app focused on automatic workout detection and rep counting.

The app is already built, and the UI is largely complete. I am not looking for a redesign from scratch. I am looking for someone who can actually use the app during workouts, identify friction points, and help make the experience simpler, faster, and more intuitive. This role is less about creating beautiful mockups and more about improving the product through real-world testing and thoughtful UX decisions.

The app is currently in TestFlight, so you will be testing a real product rather than just reviewing mockups or wireframes.

What You Will Do

You will help answer questions such as:

  • Where do users hesitate?
  • Which screens or interactions feel unnecessary?
  • What can be simplified?
  • How can we make workouts feel effortless?
  • How should the Apple Watch and iPhone experiences work together?

Requirements

I am looking for someone who:

  • Works out regularly (this is essential).
  • Ideally uses an Apple Watch while training.
  • Has experience with iOS UX (Apple Watch UX is a huge plus, but not required).
  • Enjoys testing products and finding usability issues.
  • Thinks deeply about user flows and reducing friction.
  • Can suggest ways to reduce taps, simplify screens, and improve the overall experience.
  • Experience with fitness, health, or wearable apps is a bonus.

Compensation

This is a paid freelance opportunity with the potential for ongoing work as the app continues to evolve.

How to Apply

If you are interested, please send the following information:

  • A little about yourself.
  • Your fitness background.
  • Your UX/design experience.
  • A portfolio or examples of your work.
  • Whether you’ve designed for Apple Watch before.
  • Your hourly rate or project pricing.
