Base.com: DevOps Engineer
Headquarters: Wrocław, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Poland
At Base, our mission is to support entrepreneurs in conquering global e-commerce. We are one of the fastest-growing platforms in the industry—having grown 15x over the last 3 years. We provide an all-in-one system for thousands of sellers, integrating them with Amazon, eBay, and Shopify.
Technology is not everything. In this team, we value engineering integrity and human decency. We are not looking for "Ninjas" or "Rockstars." We are looking for a Partner we can trust. Managing infrastructure that handles millions of requests is a role of high trust; therefore, we are looking for someone with a strong moral backbone.
Your Tech Stack
We work on a solid, efficient stack. You must know it inside out:
- Core: Linux (Debian/Ubuntu), Nginx (deep tuning and optimization), PHP-FPM
- Cloud: AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Lambda, IAM)
- Data: MySQL, Redis, RabbitMQ
- Observability: Datadog, ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Kibana)
- IaC: Terraform / Ansible
Your Tasks
- Manage infrastructure permissions. We expect pedantic attention to who has access to servers and why.
- Implement stable AWS cloud service operations that can withstand our dynamic growth.
- Maintain Unix/Linux servers—configuration, updates, and automation, with a full understanding of the operating system.
- Respond to incidents based on deep log analysis (Datadog, Elastic). Focus on Root Cause Analysis, not just restarting services.
- Support development teams to ensure continuous and smooth system operation.
What We Expect
- Experience: Min. 4 years in a DevOps/SysAdmin role, including practical AWS experience.
- Cloud & Hardware: Very good knowledge of the cloud, supported by experience in classic administration (background in physical server/Data Center maintenance is a plus).
- Linux Proficiency: The terminal is your natural work environment.
- Morality and Responsibility: You combine a "Can Do" approach with responsibility for the "keys to the kingdom."
- Humility: You know everyone makes mistakes, but you know how to fix them.
- 360-Degree Analysis: You look at problems from every angle—security, performance, and long-term effects.
- Hybrid Understanding: We work on AWS, but we are looking for someone who understands the physical nature of servers.
- Language: English at least B2 level (we work globally).
Nice to Have
- AWS Certifications
- Practical knowledge of Terraform
- Knowledge of Apache Kafka or Cloudflare
- Desire to develop in the direction of agent-based DevOps (process automation)
What We Offer
- An environment where mistakes are treated as lessons. If something goes wrong, we fix it together without looking for someone to blame.
- You will join a team of solid and helpful people—this is the best development program we offer.
- Your work directly translates into the stability of businesses for thousands of sellers worldwide.
- Compensation adequate to your knowledge and responsibility + a package of benefits supporting health and development.
