The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Principal Product Manager to lead the strategy, roadmap, and execution for Oportun’s flagship, AI-powered Savings product. Savings is an important driver of member growth and retention, giving this role significant influence over the future of our financial health platform and how we help members build stronger financial futures.
You’ll lead the ideation, development, launch, and scaling of new products and features while partnering closely with Engineering, Design, Data, Marketing, Legal, and Customer Support. This role reports to the Vice President & General Manager for Savings and Mobile. Candidates located in Central or Eastern time zones are strongly preferred to support team and stakeholder collaboration.
At Oportun, we move fast and we hold each other to a high bar. If you care about doing your best work while actually moving the needle for real people, you'll fit right in.
What You'll Do
- Lead the long-term product strategy and roadmap for Oportun’s Savings product in partnership with leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Scope and lead the development of new products and features designed to improve members’ financial health and strengthen growth and retention.
- Use customer research, experimentation, data, and product metrics to build a deep understanding of member needs and behaviors and translate those insights into product decisions.
- Lead a high-performing cross-functional product team across Engineering, Design, Data, Marketing, Legal, and Customer Support to bring new capabilities to market.
- Drive alignment across teams and leadership through clear communication, thoughtful documentation, and strong product judgment.
- Navigate complex legal and regulatory considerations while keeping the team focused on member outcomes and execution.
- Bring ideas for how we can do things better, proactively, not just when asked.
- Look for ways to use AI tools thoughtfully to accelerate product discovery, improve decision-making, reduce manual work, and create stronger member experiences.
Who You Are
You’re a curious and creative product leader who enjoys solving ambiguous problems and turning customer needs into clear product strategies. You combine strong product judgment with data, move comfortably between strategy and execution, and build trust across a wide range of partners. You’re customer-focused, solution-oriented, and comfortable navigating complexity without waiting for perfect information.
