About the Role
We are building an edtech app that allows mentors to call students via in-app VoIP. We currently have a working system, but it's unreliable on Android.
Current System
Our current system uses:
- React Native (bare)
- LiveKit (WebRTC)
- FCM (data notifications)
- Socket.IO
Android Issues
We are experiencing the following issues on Android:
- Incoming calls sometimes don’t show
- Answer button doesn’t open call screen
- FCM delay (5–10 sec)
- Issues on OEM devices (OPPO, Vivo, Realme, etc.)
Requirements
We are looking for someone who has:
- Strong React Native + Android native experience
- Worked on VoIP / calling systems
- Experience handling FCM + background/killed state
- Familiar with Android battery optimization issues
Goal
The goal is to make the calling system work as reliably as WhatsApp calling.
