My name is Marius, and I am the CTO at AREO.
AREO, founded in January 2023 by a team with 20+ years of combined experience in retail and startups, is a young startup specializing in developing innovative solutions for supermarkets and grocery stores.
Our B2B SaaS platform optimizes employee workflows by providing real-time access to inventory, product information, and customer inquiries. We serve large supermarket chains in Germany and across the EU.
We have already hired two backend developers through "HN - Who is hiring?" and are now seeking an Engineering Manager (Ruby on Rails) with at least 8 years of experience (preferably in startups). We recently signed another large contract with a major retail chain, are growing quickly, and expect to close a pre-seed funding round in the next few days.

Engineering Manager (Ruby on Rails)
- At least 8 years of experience (preferably in startups).
- Professional proficiency in German is required.
- Must be based in the EU.
- Backend Stack: Ruby / Rails (8.x), StimulusJS / Hotwire / Turbo, AlpineJS, Postgres, Docker, DigitalOcean, OpenAPI, LLMs.
Robotics Engineer
- Work from our robotics lab in Bremen, Germany.
- We are building a retail robot, initially focusing on teleoperation and later on developing autonomous models.
- At least 2 years of experience with humanoid robots, VLAs, teleoperation, and other relevant robotics systems.
- Professional proficiency in German is required.
- Must live in Bremen or be willing to relocate.
