About the Role
RealEstateU is a leading online U.S. real estate education provider. Our custom LMS is a large MERN platform (Node/Express, MongoDB Atlas, React, Azure) currently maintained by an external contractor. We are seeking one Senior Fullstack Engineer to help establish oversight and technical standards for the platform and help form our internal engineering culture.
This is an individual contributor (IC) role where you will have significant ownership and the ability to define engineering standards as we grow our in-house capabilities. This is not fractional or agency work. You will work directly with founders and the PM, with full autonomy and no micro-management.
Responsibilities
- CI/CD: Cut ticket-to-production time from months to days. Modernize the build, tests, linting, and GitHub Actions.
- Architecture: Break a monolithic environment into dedicated microservices to enable an asynchronous release schedule.
- APIs: Bolster integrations (Stripe, BioSig, Honorlock, SendGrid, Zapier) and open data up to new services.
- Frontend: Rebuild student-facing surfaces with a modernized stack, ideally using a portable design system.
Requirements
- Experience: 5+ years of solid React + Node experience on complex MERN products.
- Communication: Fluent English.
- Workflow: Must have already embraced a constructive AI-native workflow (e.g., Claude Code, Codex, Cursor).
- Mindset: Ability to work on a scaled product (~100k users) with real revenue.
