About the Role

I am looking to hire a freelance developer with experience in computer vision and machine learning for a sports analytics project.

The goal is to analyze video footage from a local basketball league and extract detailed player and game data. The videos will be from various gyms with different lighting and camera angles, and the camera is not fixed. Each gym has only one camera.

Project Deliverables

The end product should be able to process a game video and output the following:

  • Player Tracking: A timeline of each player's (x, y) coordinates on the court throughout the game.
  • Game Statistics: Automatically log key events like shots taken, scores (2-pointers, 3-pointers, free throws), rebounds, etc.
  • Action Recognition: Identify and tag player actions, such as shooting, dribbling, passing, defending, etc.

Requirements

  • Strong background in Python and relevant libraries (OpenCV, NumPy, etc.).
  • Proven experience with object tracking, specifically for sports or human action.
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar.
  • Familiarity with action recognition models.
  • Previous work on similar sports analytics projects is a huge plus.
  • Prefer if understand basketball basics rules well.

Compensation

  • Budget: $30/hr USD (negotiable, not including training costs if needed)
