An overview of this role

As an Associate Solutions Architect for GitLab's SMB EMEA Sales team, you'll be a trusted advisor to GitLab prospects and customers, helping them understand how GitLab's DevSecOps platform addresses both technical requirements and business objectives across the entire software development lifecycle. You'll guide organizations through their digital transformation journeys, from planning through monitoring, using your technical expertise, understanding of cloud and modern software development practices, and strong customer empathy.

Reporting to a regional Solutions Architect manager and partnering closely with Account Executives and cross-functional teams, you'll own technical evaluations (including proof of value initiatives and workshops), shape solution architectures, and serve as the voice of the customer back to Product Management. You'll focus on driving successful platform adoption, influencing revenue growth through solution selling, and building long-term, trust-based relationships.

What you'll do

  • Drive value and change with software development for one of the fastest-growing platforms.
  • Support and enable the successful adoption of the GitLab platform by our SMB EMEA Customers.
  • Work collaboratively with Sales, Customer Success, Engineering, Product Management, and Marketing organizations.
  • Key milestones:
    • First 30 days: Successful completion of the Solutions Architect Onboarding plan.
    • Within two months: Collaborate closely with peers to gain comprehensive knowledge of the GitLab platform, DevOps practices, and associated technologies; learn through shadowing our value selling approach.
    • Within three months: Engage with customers, both onsite and remote, in a technical consultancy and advisor role during the pre-sales process.
  • In partnership with the sales team, formulate and execute a sales strategy to exceed revenue targets.
  • Educate SMB customers on the value proposition of GitLab.
  • Guide technical evaluations via POC/POV ownership, RFP/audit support, and workshop design.
  • Build relationships with people within customer environments to enable them to be GitLab advocates.
  • Serve as the customer advocate to other GitLab teams, including Product Development, Sales, and Marketing.
  • Continuously improve professional skills with a focus on personal mastery and team learning.
  • Maintain specialty competency in one or more technologies related to GitLab's market focus.

What you'll bring

  • 1-2+ years of experience engaging with customers in pre-sales, consulting, or similar roles.
  • Experience or an eagerness to understand the end-to-end software development lifecycle, including modern DevSecOps practices and CI/CD workflows.
  • Practical knowledge of cloud computing concepts and related technologies.
  • Ability to lead technical evaluations such as proofs of concept or proofs of value, contribute to tenders or audits, and design/run workshops.
  • Clear technical communication and presentation skills, with the ability to adapt messages for practitioners through to senior decision-makers.
  • Skill in building trusted relationships and acting as a customer advocate.
  • Motivation to continuously develop professionally.
  • German OR French language fluency (desirable).
