About Basin
Last week, Cloudflare announced the General Availability of Basin, a serverless data platform built on Apache Iceberg and R2. The platform consists of three core components:
- Pipelines: Streaming ingestion and SQL transforms.
- Catalog: A managed Iceberg REST catalog with table maintenance.
- SQL: A distributed query engine.
We also recently launched K2, a durable event stream built on R2 that serves as the ingestion buffer behind Pipelines.

1. Basin Pipelines
Work on the streaming engine (built on Arroyo) and K2.
- Requirements: Experience writing the core of a storage or streaming system; strong proficiency in Rust or C++.
