  • Key External Relationships: Category Managers, DMM, Buyer/Replenishment, Marketing

Job Purpose

The National Account Manager develops, plans, and executes both brand and customer goals for strategic accounts to ensure a jointly profitable outcome. Key objectives include:

  • Owning and hitting/exceeding annual sales targets within assigned territory and accounts.
  • Developing and executing a strategic plan to achieve sales targets and expand our customer base.
  • Building and maintaining strong, long-lasting customer and internal relationships.
  • Managing and developing a team to deliver on corporate strategic goals and develop talent.

Essential Functions

  • Exceed sales budget targets: Develop and execute a strategic customer plan that includes expanding distribution, launching innovation, executing a measured promotional plan, and pivoting when appropriate.
  • Grow P&L contribution: Grow top-line sales, reduce operational costs, and maximize ROI on trade/markdown spend.
  • Increase share of brands: Expand into new markets or customers, replace competitive brands in existing retailers, and create a beauty statement within each category.
  • Create an award-winning team: Provide direct oversight of brokers and work directly with retailers.
  • Maintain accurate weekly S&OP forecasts: Report on-time SKU movement, layer in promotional influence, and monitor customer weeks of supply.
  • Develop and maintain reporting: Create customer or regional reporting for internal and external use (e.g., weekly POS, syndicated data analytics, NPD performance tracking, holiday sell-through, and ad-hoc analysis).
  • Lead internal planning: Create, evaluate, and manage profitable/strategic opportunity briefs and promotional plans.
  • Predict audience needs: Prepare for sales/customer meetings by understanding customer requirements, aligning with internal goals, setting a productive meeting cadence, and following up with concise actions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years of sales experience calling on national accounts.
  • Broker management experience required.
  • Proven track record of setting, measuring, and achieving goals.
  • BA/BS degree required.
  • Self-motivated and highly driven.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
