About the Collective Intelligence Project

The Collective Intelligence Project (http://www.cip.org) builds platforms that allow large groups of people to participate in decisions about AI systems. In short, we’re building the democratic infrastructure for AI.

We partner with AI labs and governments to evaluate frontier models on questions automated benchmarks can’t capture — e.g. whether models respond safely to mental health crises, provide reliable legal advice across languages, or exhibit political bias.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Lead Product Engineer to build infrastructure behind this work.

Responsibilities

You'll work on:

  • Evaluation platforms used by AI labs and policymakers
  • Systems for collecting and aggregating large-scale human judgment data
  • Interfaces that help policymakers interpret evaluation results
  • Infrastructure for large-scale public deliberation about AI

Technology Stack

The current stack includes: TypeScript, React/Next.js, Postgres, Supabase, Vercel.

Additional Information

You’ll have significant ownership over architecture and product direction. We’re hoping candidates are already familiar with Claude Code / Codex / Cursor, and are excited about using AI as a force amplifier across projects.

If you're interested in building infrastructure for democratic AI governance, we'd love to talk.
