About the Role

We are seeking an experienced COBOL Developer to support and enhance mission-critical legacy systems. This role focuses on maintaining and modernizing high-availability mainframe applications supporting transportation and logistics operations.

Requirements

7+ years of professional experience developing in COBOL.
Experience supporting high-volume batch processing systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to support production systems with minimal downtime.
Experience with transportation, logistics, or transit systems is a plus.
Experience supporting mission-critical legacy or mainframe applications.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, maintain, and enhance COBOL applications.
Support systems related to:
- Freight and shipment processing
- Ticketing, billing, and invoicing
- Scheduling and routing
- Asset and fleet tracking
- Regulatory and compliance reporting
Debug, test, and resolve production issues in a 24x7 operational environment.
Collaborate with business analysts and operations teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
Create and maintain technical documentation and program specifications.
Ensure systems meet security, audit, and regulatory standards.

Position Details

Location: Remote – US
Duration: 6-month contract with likely extensions
Employment Type: Contract role on W-2 through Above and Beyond Talent Acquisition, Inc. (A&B Talent)

Compensation

Pay Rate: $68 - $74 per hour
